Doina

Doina is an old style of music. Either instrumental or vocal, accompanied or not by a taraf there is always a main protagonist: a vocalist or an instrument leading. A muslim taksim is in many ways similar to a doina. It is quite impossible to translate this Romanian word, because its meaning can be understood only as idiosyncrasy. One has to have lived and be nurtured by the Romanian life-environment in order to understand such meaning.
Nonetheless, a doina in its variations narrates about life and death, fortune, chance, beauty of nature, longing, curses etc. Doina is highly lyrical and the allegory is fundamental. The instrumental virtuoso would attempt to depict emotions and acts, while the vocalist would offer an account of symbolic happenings or a metaphysical meditation.
If in the previous playlist Ethnic Trips barely touched on ethnic and folkloric music, hereby I tried to offer a quintessential anthology of doina in the older Romanian folkloric space.

Doina. În acest playlist am încercat să unesc sub forma unei scurte antologii câteva dintre vechile doine românești. Nu consider că este o listă completă a tot ceea ce acoperă categoria doina în spațiul românesc. Însă am încercart să găsesc cele mai frumoase doine din istoria muzicală românească care este disponibilă online.

Am încercat să mențin puritatea acoustică a instrumentelor și să caut fuziuni contemporane. Nu sunt un puritan, însă această anthologie vizează doinele mai vechi, care urmează să fie uitate, care vor lasa doar o dâră în conștiința muzicală românească.

Eu cred că acest stil muzical, deși nu pot să îl numesc total original, deoarece se aseamănă cu taksimul musulman și împrumută din culturile orientale o anumită structură, în spațiul românesc a avut o evoluție originală. Încerc să popularizez această muzică înainte de a dispare.
